About Betty Swygert Art
Betty Swygert was a gifted artist, student, maker, mother, and creative spirit whose surviving artwork reveals an extraordinary eye for portraiture, fashion, interior scenes, symbolism, and psychological expression.
Many of these pieces were created during or near her years as an art student at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia, in the early 1950s. Some were preserved for decades in family storage, showing the marks of age, paper, time, and survival. Rather than hiding that history, this collection honors it.
This site was created to preserve and share Betty Swygert’s artwork with family, friends, and anyone who appreciates the quiet power of a gifted hand. Some works are shown exactly as found; others may be accompanied by cleaned, restored, or AI-assisted interpretations for comparison. The purpose is not to replace the originals, but to help people see what was always there.
